This collection of 96 books spans revolutions, modern nations, social history, and world events. It includes firsthand narratives from the U.S. Civil War, such as regimental histories and accounts of battles like Chattanooga and Chickamauga, as well as personal stories from Confederate and Union perspectives. World War I naval operations and the British Empire's Y.M.C.A. efforts are also documented.

Notable works include Lady Anne Hamilton's 'Secret History of the Court of England' covering the 18th and 19th centuries, and 'Raiders of the Sarhad' about a campaign on the Persian-Baluchi border during the Great War. Photographs by Mathew B. Brady and illustrations by W. P. Starmer and Edgar Wright enrich the collection.
